There are several options for radiant flooring. When you tell us more about your home or commercial project, we'll recommend the option that will work best for you. Here are some options that are available to you:
Floor Joist
One option for radiant flooring is to have us install the radiant tubing between the floor joists and under your wood flooring. Warm water will flow from the boiler through these tubes, passing heat to aluminum transfer plates as it goes. These aluminum plates will move the heat evenly to your floor's surface. They radiate wonderfully, and keep you warm on even the coldest days.
Raupanel
Raupanel radiant heating is an excellent alternative to floor-joist radiant heating, and is well suited for retrofits and new construction. The Raupanel system was created by a company called Rehau. They designed it to respond quickly to changes in temperature, and to provide uniform, comfortable heat in a single room, or throughout an entire home. Instead of sealing the radiant tubing in place with concrete, we snap the tubing into custom grooves within the aluminum Raupanel. This allows us to do 100% of the installation, eliminating the need for a specialized concrete or gypsum cement installer. This cuts costs and saves time. No need to wait for the concrete or cement to dry! The Raupanel system is compatible with commonly used floor coverings. Most of the Raupanel radiant heating systems that we install have 3/4" hardwood placed over them. You'll love the result!
Warmboard
Introduced in 1998, Warmboard takes radiant heating to the next level. It combines a strong sheet of structural plywood with an aluminum radiant-heating panel. Much like Raupanel, the aluminum panel in the Warmboard has a custom groove for the radiant tubing. Warmboard is best for new construction because it is essentially an advanced subfloor with radiant capability. When warm water runs through the radiant tubing, the aluminum panel warms up quickly and transfers heat evenly to the flooring above. Warmboard is compatible with virtually all floor coverings.
Over-Pour
Over-pour is another installation option for your radiant heating system. Here, we seal the durable PEX tubing within a high-mass slab that can hold heat for a long time. First, we lay wire mesh on the floor and tie the PEX tubing to that. The mesh holds the PEX in the perfect place for even heating. Our specialist then pours either concrete or lightweight gypcrete over the mesh and tubing. The heated water flows through the PEX tubing and conducts its warmth through the slab, which then radiates wonderful warmth upward to where you're relaxing. It's a wonderful way to do radiant.
